VISION for 2017

I have always been a visionary.  I have dreamed many dreams and the ministry we enjoy is because some of those dreams came true.  I started this church with a dream of seeing God do something special. Many times throughout scripture we see God use men who had a vision. Nehemiah had a vision of what he wanted to do for God and in 52 days the walls of Jeruselum were rebuilt. Abraham had a vision of being the father of a great nation.  Moses had a vision of delivering the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage. David had a vision of being the Kind of Israel.  Paul had a vision of reaching many for Christ.  Vision is God given!  My vision and goal has always been to do more for the cause of Christ.

“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat.”  ~Theodore Roosevelt

We need a CHURCH full of people with a great vision to serve God!

We started 2016 with a vision and a goal to ENGAGE in Christ and Community. From January thru December, God was busy doing a mighty work at Grand View Baptist Church and in our surrounding area.

Though we have seen many of our goals met through the years,  WE ARE NOT DONE YET!

Proverbs 29:18 says: “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

At Grand View Baptist Church we are continuing to set goals to do great things for Christ!  Our theme this year is IMPACT - we want to impact our community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We endeavor to do this by loving on our city, witnessing to the lost about the saving grace of Christ throughout this year, discipling new converts, and by engaging many of our people in a ministry that makes a difference. IMPACT!

In closing, I want to repeat a statement I made in 1997.  “We will not just have a vision for 1997, but for the future as well.  There will be a day we see over 1,000 saved in one day.  There will be a day we see over 250 baptized in one day.  There will be a day we take up an offering of over $100,000.00 in one day.  There will be a day we support over 100 soul-winning missionaries.  There will be a day we start a Bible Institute to train Christian Workers to serve effectively in ministry and to start new churches.  There will be a day we have a full time Spanish Pastor.  There will be a day we have to buy more property to expand.  There will be a day we have twenty or more busses reaching children all throughout the metropolitan area of Portland and beyond.  There will be a day we own our own youth camp facilities that we will actively use throughout the year.  There will be a day we have a committed staff of dozens to effectively minister to the people of Grand View Baptist Church.  There will be a day we have to go to two services to accommodate the people in our 1,200 seat auditorium.  There will come a day a 70 year old preacher stands behind our pulpit having been your pastor for 40 years of his life.”
